After the tree is chosen, it is cut down and transported to the President’s Park, where it is put up with great care and precision.

The Annual Lighting Ceremony

Once the tree is in place, the White House puts on the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event is usually held the first week of December, and features performances by local choirs and musical acts, as well as appearances by members of the U.S. military.
