How To Make Dried Oranges Christmas Decorations
As Christmas approaches, many of us are looking for new and creative ways to decorate our homes and add a little extra special touch to the festive season. One way to do this is by making dried oranges Christmas decorations. These decorations are not only eye-catching but also have a wonderful scent that adds to the holiday atmosphere. Plus, they are incredibly easy to make and require minimal materials!
Gathering Materials & Supplies
Making your own dried orange Christmas decorations is a fun and easy process that can be completed in a few steps. First, gather a few oranges, some twine, and any other decorative materials you might want to use (garland, ribbon, etc.). You’ll also need a baking sheet, parchment paper, and an oven or food dehydrator (optional).
Prepping & Slicing the Oranges
Once you have all of your equipment and supplies ready, you can start to prep the oranges. Begin by slicing them into thin slices, about 1/8 of an inch thick. This will help them dry out more quickly and evenly. You can also remove the seeds from each slice if desired.
Layering in the Baking Sheet
Once you’ve sliced all the oranges, place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure there is enough room between each slice so that the oranges can dry out completely and evenly. Place the baking sheet in the oven or food dehydrator, if using one, and cook at a low temperature (around 150°F) for several hours. If you don’t have access to an oven or dehydrator, you can also leave the oranges out to dry overnight.
Decorating with Twine & Other Decorative Materials
Once the oranges are completely dried out, it’s time to get creative! Using the twine, tie a knot around each slice of orange and hang them from the ceiling, doorways, mantelpieces, or anywhere else you would like to display them. You can also use any other decorative materials you have, such as garlands or ribbons, to create unique designs and patterns.
Enjoy Your Homemade Dried Oranges Christmas Decorations
Once your decorations are complete, sit back and enjoy your work! The warm, vibrant colors of the oranges will be the perfect addition to any home, while the wonderful smell of the citrus will fill the air with holiday cheer. And best of all, you made these decorations yourself with minimal materials.
